No, and not as a policy, as a matter of math. Your books are encrypted on your device before they sync; the servers only ever hold sealed data nobody can read. Your recovery key is the only key, and only you have it.
When you turn on sync you get a HUTCH-… key. You save it once (password manager or paper), and it's only ever needed when you add a new device. Losing every device AND the key means nobody can recover your books, including us. That's the price of real privacy, and the app helps you save it properly.
